Heating and hot water

Log stove in the living room

Please use the logs/fuel provided and let us know if you need more. Please do not use wood from the garden as it is not dry enough to burn properly.

The wee air vent on the front should be fully open as you start the fire and gradually closed as the fire gets going. Adjust the vent to maintain a steady burn. If you leave the vent fully open, you will gobble up more fuel than is necessary. We advise that you do not use the stove if you have small children.

Living room, entrance hall and conservatory

These heaters are storage heaters that are programmed to provide heat first thing in the morning and during the late afternoon and evening. The temperature is set between 17 and 20 °C as this is the normal range for comfort.

The display will say Heating On or Comfort On when the heater is trying to heat the room and Heating Off or Comfort Off when it is not heating the room. The heater will feel warm to the touch because of the stored heat and will blow warm air out at the base when heating the room.

The only controls you need to use are the dial to change the temperature setting and the Advance button.

You can turn the dial to change the temperature setting. The temperature setting will reset each day for the living room heater. Use the Advance button to change between heating on and off. This will also reset at the next point in the programme.

Bedroom and kitchen heaters

These are panel heaters that are programmed to provide heat first thing in the morning and during the evening. The temperature is set between 17 and 20 °C. The controls are similar to those for the living room heater.

The only controls you need to use are the up and down arrows to change the temperature setting and the Advance button.

Bathroom heater

The bathroom has a heated towel rail to provide heat. The controller is located next to the heater. Press the green ‘Eco’ button to turn the heater on. This will heat the bathroom for 90 minutes.

Hot water

The hot water is set to heat up over night and with a short boost in the late afternoon/early evening. There is no need to adjust the water heater timings as the hot water cylinder has enough capacity for all your daily needs. You do need to be careful as the water can be very hot.

Shower

The main isolator switch for the shower is outside the bathroom to the left of the door.

When using the shower on ‘Eco’ setting turn the temperature dial to about 1 o’clock position. If using the shower on the high power setting, turn the temperature dial to the 10 o’clock position.
